Thermite Balls:

I have a set of these for my classroom. They work great. Just make sure you have some steel wool around to scrape off the aluminum oxide from the foil and let the sparks fly.

How to Make Thermite:

Thermite Reaction:
Aluminum reduces the iron in iron oxide, and replacing the iron to make aluminum oxide. This single replacement redox reaction is highly exothermic.

Fe2O3 + 2Al => 2Fe + Al2O3 + Heat

The products are aluminium oxide, free elemental iron, and a large amount of heat (4000 F or 2204 C).
